Lorraine M. Doskey, 98, resident of Houghton passed away after a brief illness on Monday afternoon, April 30, 2018, at the Omega House.
Lorraine was born on August 14, 1919 in Chicago, IL to Frank Andrzejewski and Henrietta Dybowski. She married Vincent P. Doskey at St. Wenceslaus Church in Chicago, IL on July 7, 1945. Lorraine moved from Chicago to Houghton in February 2014 after Vincent, a World War II veteran, passed away on January 23, 2014. Although she was accustomed to the hustle and bustle of Chicago, where she lived for nearly 95 years, Lorraine came to enjoy the quiet and beauty of the Copper Country. Nicknamed “The Ambassador” by Vincent, she came to the Keweenaw with her welcoming smile and engaging personality. Lorraine learned to “dance” through life and lived life to the fullest. She was a parishioner of St. Ignatius Loyola Church, Houghton, MI where she was a regular at the Saturday afternoon mass, and afterwards at Hardees for a burger and fries!
Lorraine is survived by sons John F. (Diane) Doskey of Alton, IL and Paul V. (Mary) of Houghton, MI; daughters Susan E. Doskey Peters and Mary L. (William) Biedermann of Chicago, IL; grandchildren Lisa M. (Kris) Orr, Brian J. (Alison) Peters, Adam V. (Shannon Godlove) Doskey, Anna M. Doskey, Claire M. (Robert Rollenhagen) Doskey, and Luke C. Doskey; and great grandchildren Kailey and Kenzie Orr.
Lorraine is dearest sister of the late Frank (the late Twila) Andrews, the late Grace Zuba, Patricia (the late Edward) Demski, Virginia Pflum, and Phyllis (the late Joseph) Kelleher, dear sister-in-law to the late Irene (the late Philip) Stiff and Lillian (Edward) Langan, and the fond aunt of many.
