Tapiola

Angeline Lyttinen (née Colombe), 75, of Tapiola, Michigan, passed away

at her home on November 23, 2025. She was born on May 29, 1950, in

Chassell, Michigan, to Cecilia (Beauchamp) and Lawrence Colombe.

Angeline grew up in Houghton County and graduated from Houghton High

School. She was a lifelong and devoted member of St. Anne's Catholic

Church of Chassell, and her faith remained a source of strength

throughout her life.

On March 14, 1970, she married Melvyn Lyttinen, and together they

built a home and family filled with love and laughter.

Angeline worked as a teacher's aide supporting special needs children.

She took great pride in helping to teach sign language, offering

patience, encouragement, and understanding to the students. She also

worked as a cook at the Tapiola Diner.

At home, Angeline was a dedicated full-time mother and a great cook.

Her pancakes were beloved and the best in town. Her kitchen was often

filled with the comforting scents of family meals and fresh coffee.

She cherished her time spent reading, gardening, cooking, crocheting,

and enjoying a good cup of coffee.

Angeline was preceded in death by her mother, Cecilia Colombe; her

father, Lawrence Colombe; her stepfather, Walter Colombe; her brother,

Lawrence "Duffy" Colombe; and her sisters Mary Nelson, Kathryn

Sauvola, Eleanor Sauvola, Rita O'Connell, and Ann Heckel.

She is survived by her husband, Melvyn Lyttinen; her brothers William

Colombe, Richard (MaryEllen) Colombe, and John Colombe; her sisters

Dorothy Aho, Genevieve Kyro, and Pauline Pietila; her sister-in-law

Laverne Martila; her children Lance Lyttinen, Nicole Lyttinen, Melanie

(Joshua) Ong, and Laren Lyttinen; her grandchildren, Isaac and Isabella

Ong; her great-granddaughter Liliana Morales; and many beloved nieces

and nephews.

Angeline will be deeply missed by all who loved her. Her goodwill,

warmth, and devotion to her family and friends will always be

remembered.
