William Heikkila

Obituary of William Robert Heikkila Lake Linden William R. Heikkila, 45, a former resident of Lake Linden, passed away Monday August 25, 2008, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock where he had been a resident patient since this past January. He was born on June 11, 1963, a son of Robert Heikkila and the late Judith (Naasko) Heikkila. Mr. Heikkila was raised in Tamarack City and was a graduate of the Dollar Bay High School with the class of 1982. He has resided in Lake Linden for most of his lifetime. Mr. Heikkila was a veteran having served with the United States Navy. William was a member of William Giroux Post # 90 American Legion of Lake Linden. He had worked for many years as a cashier at the General Store in Houghton, and enjoyed following the Green Bay Packers. Surviving are: His children: Nicole Heikkila of Dollar Bay Beth Heikkila of Dollar Bay His father: Robert Heikkila of Lake Linden His sister: Cheryl (Tom) Monette of Tamarack City Several aunts, uncles, and cousins A special friend: Carla Mattfolk of Dollar Bay A private graveside service for William will be held at a later date in the Toivola Cemetery and William Giroux Post #90 American Legion of Lake Linden will hold military rites.
