Obituary of Agnes Ingeborg Ring Hancock Agnes I. Ring, 95, a resident of Hancock passed away early Friday morning August 10, 2007, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock where she had been a resident patient for the past year and a half. Agnes was born on January 10, 1912, in Haparanda, Sweden, to Jennie (Niska) and Petter Niemi. She came to the USA at an early age and the family made their home in Hancock. She graduated from the Hancock High School and later attended Wayne State University and the Carnegie Medical Institute. In 1932 she was united in marriage to Edward Ring in Toledo, Ohio. They made their home in Detroit before moving to Oakland County. She was very active in their community; a past officer of the Middle Straits Improvement Association and a Co-leader of the Orchard Lake Girl Scouts & Brownies. She worked for an Oral Surgeon, Dr. Drahiene, as an instrument nurse and in later years in a non-selling capacity at Hudson's Department Store in Pontiac. She became a charter member of the XYZ Senior Citizens Club and an active member of the Hancock Eagles Auxiliary #382, the Houghton County Extension Club, & the Commission on Aging, along with being a former member of the Michigan Club of St. Cloud, Florida. She traveled extensively in Europe before & after her return to Hancock. Travel & fashion were two of her passions along with her love of her pets and family. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward her parents, Jennie and Petter, brothers Ernest, daughter Bessie, son Edward, grandchildren Amanda & Brandon. She is survived by her sister Mable Erickson of Farmington Hills, MI, Granddaughter Diane (Paul) Nakkula, grandsons Jack & Mark Michalich, Nieces, Jeanne Walkowicz, Sandra (Richard) Gilstorf, Phyllis Wittla, Carol (Robert) Bishop and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, great nieces, & great nephews & cousins here and abroad. Funeral services for Agnes will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday August 15, 2007, in the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with Richard Eskola to officiate. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery of Houghton. Friends may call on Tuesday August 14, 2007, in the Memorial Chapel Funeral home of Hancock from 6 to 8 p.m. where F.O.E.
