Obituary of Albin Liimatta Albin Liimatta, 84, of Chassell, passed away Thursday, April 04, 2013, at the Cypress Manor Health and Rehab Center in Hancock. He was born on February 18, 1929, in Chassell, the son of Frank and Mary (Raisanen) Liimatta and he attended the Chassell Schools. Albin spent most of his life on the farm in Klingville. Some of the young people called him "Strawberry Al" since he enjoyed working with the young people and raising strawberries. Frequently giving rides to town on Sunday evening when they had to return to their work living places for the coming week. He was very mechanically inclined and always willing to help others. He drove truck for various companies, including Complete and Anchor Motor Carriers, retiring after twenty-five years. Albin was the last of thirteen children. He was preceded in death by his parents, three infant siblings, Roy, Ernest, and Saima Ruth, in addition by brothers Francis Ainard Fred, Edwin, Wesley August, Norman Arvo, Kenneth Richardand sisters Lila Milma Rachki, Florence Mildred, Mary Edith and Effie Elizabeth Virenius. Surviving are twelve nieces, ten nephews, many grand and great grand nieces and nephews and many dear friends. In 1951 Albin introduced his nephew, Elmer to a neighbor, Ruth Tapio. Three years later he was the best man at their wedding. Albin was devoted to His Lord, and Church. "Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life"-Revelation 2:10. The funeral service for Mr. Liimatta will be held at 11 AM Monday at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Chassell with Rev. Elmer Liimatta D. Min officiating. Spring burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery in Calumet. Friends may call on Sunday from 4-7 PM at the funeral home.
