Obituary of Alice Margaret Kivari Chassell Alice M. Kivari, 91, a former resident of Chassell passed away Thursday morning May 2, 2013, at the Delaware House of Portage Pointe in Hancock where she had been a resident patient for the past 4years. She was born on January 16, 1922, in the Snake River Hill area a daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Kurtti) Luusua. As a child, she attended the Snake River Hill School. Alice then went to work on the family farm. She later moved to the Detroit area during World War II where she had worked in the Air plane Assembly plants to help the war effort. On March 19, 1949, she was united in marriage to Henry Kivari the couple had resided in the Detroit area until 1982, when they moved to make their home in Chassell for retirement. Henry preceded Alice in death on April 23, 2007. Mrs. Kivari was a member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Hancock. Preceding her in death where her husband, her infant daughter, her parents, her brothers and sister; William, Mildred Peterson, Harold, Lawrence Kenneth and Roy. Surviving are: Her children: Warren (Tarja) Kivari of Chassell Rachel (Daniel) Pedersen of South Haven, MN Norman (Carol) Kivari of Blain, MN Andrew (Jana) Kivari of Holly, MI 33 Grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of christian friends Funeral Services for Alice will be held 11 am Monday May 6, 2013, at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Hancock with Ronald Jouppe to officiate. Burial will be held later this spring in the Chassell Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday May 5, 2013, from 4 to 8:00 pm at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Hancock and on Monday from 10 am until time of services at the church.
