Obituary of Alice Mildred Raisanen Hancock Alice M. Raisanen, 90, a resident of Hancock passed away Monday March 19, 2012, at the Port Charlotte Rehab Center in Port Charlotte, FL. She was born on September 21, 1921, in Hancock, a daughter of the late Helmer and Lempi (Long)Kuru. Alice attended the Redridge School and graduated from the Hancock High School. Following high school, she resided in Oskar and on December 21, 1940, she was united in marriage to Roy Raisanen. The couple made their home in Dollar Bay and then Hancock where Alice has resided until becoming a patient at the Port Charlotte Rehab Center. Mrs. Raisanen had worked in the Food Service Department of Soumi College now Finlandia University. She was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Hancock and enjoyed working in her garden, sewing and cooking for her family. Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents, and her brother Ken Kuru. Surviving are: Her children: Donald (Sandy) Raisnaen of Brainerd, MN & Punta Gorda, FL Patricia (John) Morin of Hancock, MI & Punta Gorda, FL Her grandchildren: Davin (Christa) Raisanen, Erik (Frances) Raisanen and Elin (Jarod) LeClaire Her great grandchildren: Kiera and Jake Raisanen Her sisters: Dorothy Olson a resident patient of Cypress Manor Nursing Home Elsie Keindl of the Houghton Canal Beatrice Sutinen of the Houghton Canal Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins A memorial service for Alice will be held 11:00 am Tuesday July 3, 2012, at the Gloria Dei Lutehran Church of Hancock with Rev. D.J. Rasner to officiate. Burial will be in the Oskar Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 am until time of services at the church on Tuesday July 3, 2012.
