Obituary of Ann Marie Kangas Hancock Ann Marie Kangas, 79, a resident of Hancock passed away Thursday evening January 29, 2015, at the Franklin House of Portage Pointe in Hancock where she had been a resident patient for the past two weeks. She was born on January 10, 1936, in Huorntown, a daughter of the late Francis and Florence (Kuure) Pernaski. As a child, the family moved to Hancock where she graduated from the Hancock Central High School with the class of 1953. Ann Marie was employed with Upper Peninsula Power Company for over 20 years retiring in 1999. In June of 1996, she was united in marriage to Earl Kangas and he preceded her in death in 2000. Mrs. Kangas was a life long member of Zion Lutheran Church of Hancock, helping with various church groups. Ann Marie also loved to spend time with her grandchildren and attending their various sporting events. Preceding her in death were her parents, her brother Fred Pernaski and an infant sister Florence Kay Pernaski along with several aunts, uncles, cousins and her son's father Ronald Norkol. Surviving are: Her sons: John (Jennifer) Norkol of Hancock Jerry (Kathy) Norkol of Hancock Her grandchildren: Jacob, Justin, and Brandon Norkol Her sister-in-law: Jean Pernaski of Hancock Her step-children: David, Tammy, Gerry, Kelly, and Kara and their families. Several cousins, nieces, and nephews Funeral Services for Ann Marie will be held 11 am Monday February 2, 2015, in the Zion Lutheran Church of Hancock with Pastor Jesse Aho to officiate. Spring burial will be in the Lakeside Cemetery of Hancock. Friends may call on Monday February 2, 2015, from 10 am until time of services at the church. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy the family suggests that memorials be given to Zion Lutheran Church of Hancock in memory of Ann Marie Kangas.
