Obituary of Ann Eleanor Kotila Hancock Ann E. (Gerald) Kotila, 76, a resident of Hancock passed away Tuesday November 1, 2011, at the Omega House in Houghton after a brave fight against cancer. She was born on April 9, 1935, in Askel, MI, a daughter of the late John and Saimi (Lundy) Michaelson. Ann graduated from the John A. Doelle School with the class of 1953. On August 20, 1955, she was united in marriage to Gerald Kotila. The couple had resided in various parts of the United States and Europe, as Gerald's job would take them. Ann was a gifted seamstress and knitter, making many items for her family to wear. Ann enjoyed helping her husband with numerous home remodeling projects. Together, they cleared a lot and built a family camp. Preceding her in death were her parents, her brother Arthur, and her daughter- in law, Inga Kotila. Surviving are: Her husband: Gerald Kotila of Hancock Her children: Jeffery (Cindy) Kotila of Virgina, MN Julie Ann Kotila of Fairbanks, Alaska Her grandchildren: Iloni, Davin, Teija, and Tomas Her brothers: William (Sonya) Michaelson of Elo Albert (Louise) Michaelson of Chicago Donald (Elaine) Michaelson of Elo Robert (Virgina) Michaelson of Arnheim George (Caroline) Michaelson of Elo James (Andrea) Michaelson of California Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and an aunt As requested, a private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
