Obituary of Ann Rukavina-Fourland Hancock Anne. G. Rukavina-Fourland, 81, a resident of Hancock passed early Saturday morning August 10, 2013, at the Portage Hospital in Hancock. She had been a patient for the past three weeks following a short illness. She was born on October 15, 1931, in Iron River, MI, a daughter of the late John and Mathilda (Perovich) Rukavina. As a child she moved to Marquette and in 1950 she graduated from Bishop Baraga High School in Marquette. She also graduated from Sacramento State University with a teaching degree. Over the years, Anne continued her education finally receiving her Master's Degree in English. She taught English in the Sacramento, CA, School District. For the past seven years, Anne has resided in the Copper Country to be closer to her family. More recently, Anne was a substitute teacher in the local schools and tutored foreign student in English. Ms. Fourland was a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Hancock. She enjoyed the arts, reading, teaching and spending time with her grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her daughter Kamila Fourland, her parents, and her brother John Rukavina. Surviving are: Her grandchildren: Heather Murphy of Houghton Brandon Murphy of Reno, NV Her great grandchildren: Taylor, Angel, Sadie, Derek and Ayla Several cousins A Mass of Christian Burial for Anne will be held 11:00 am Friday August 16, 2013 at the Church of the Resurrection with Rev. Fr. William Ssozi to celebrate. Friends may call on Friday August 16, 2013, from 10 am until time of services at the church. Burial will be held in the Evergreen Cemetery of Ontonagon at a later date. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy donations made in memory of Anne Rukavina-Fourland will be collected by her family.
