Obituary of Anna I Dollar Bay Anna Irene Oja, 88, a former resident of Dollar Bay passed away Saturday morning July 14, 2007, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock where she had been a resident patient for the past seven months. She was born on July 18, 1918, in Greenland, MI, a daughter of the late John and Mary (Lejon) Lappalainen. As a child she attended the Wainola School. Anna has resided in the Chicago area, Detroit area and in 1983 moved to Dollar Bay where she has resided until becoming a resident patient at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility. Anna had worked on the assembly line in the automotive industry and at a Sears store while she lived in Detroit. On October 18, 1952, she was united in marriage to Rudolph Oja and he preceded her in death on January 23, 1987. Also preceding her in death was 1 brother John and 3 sisters: Eva, Elsa, and Erma. Surviving are: Her children: Roger Oja of Dollar Bay Susan (Thomas) DeBruyn of Ray, MI A special niece: Sandra Dill of Lake Linden Several other nieces and nephews A memorial service for Anna will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday July 26, 2007 in the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with Paul Anderson to officiate.
