Obituary of Arlen Juntunen Obenhoff Arlen W. "Gumps" Juntunen, 79, a resident of Obenhoff, passed away Saturday May 15, 2010, at his home following a short battle with Pancreatic Cancer. He was born on February 11, 1931, in Hancock a son of the late Matt and Lillian Juntunen. He was a graduate of the Hancock High School with the class of 1949. Mr. Juntunen was a retired miner having worked for White Pine Copper Company. On November 1, 1952, he was united in marriage to the former Judith Hannula and they spent 57 precious years together. Gumps was very active outdoors, enjoying hunting, fishing, X-country skiing, and biking. In his younger days, he spent time playing hockey with the Portage Lake Pioneers and more recently he enjoyed all activities with his children and family. Preceding him in death were his parents, and brothers Robert and Ronald. Surviving are: His wife; Judy Juntunen of Obenhoff His children; Sherri (Wayne) Gaddis of Atlantic Mine Connie Jo Turner of South Range Tony (Deb) Juntunen of Atlantic Mine Nicole (Derek) Manquen of Vail, AZ His grandchildren; Andy, Katie, Shannon, Charlie, Molly, Lillian, John, Anna, Mary, Isaac, Jessica, Rachel, Emma, Derek, Courtney, Jason, Briana, Jenna and Alex. His great grandchildren; Brady, Ashley, Bryce, Carson, Lilly, Gracie, Chloe, Cody, Brogan, Dominick, Dylan, Noah, Raymond, Madyson, Vincent, Kulani, Cameron and Jackson. His brother; Gerald (Karyn) Juntunen of Tapiola His sister; Carole (Russ) Luttinen of Traverse City His sister-in-law; Sharon (Maata) Juntunen of South Range Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends Friends may call on Thursday May 20, 2010, from 6 to 8 pm at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Hancock.
