Obituary of Arlen Maki MR Arlen "Sonny" Maki, 78, of South Range, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2014, at Portage Health in Hancock.He was born in Atlantic Mine on October 23, 1935, son of Ilmer and Florence (Nelson) Maki and attended the local schools. Sonny worked at the Duncan Sawmill. He also worked in the Chicago area as a construction foreman retiring in 1984. He moved back to the Copper Country and worked at Shopko in Houghton during his retirement. He was first married to Marlene Perfetti and then Sharon Nettell-Bloom.Sonny enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, hockey and was a fanatic about bingo, in fact he would come back from hunting camp to catch a game.He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in South Range.Preceding him in death were his parents and brother, Burton Ginter.Surviving are his wife, Sharon of South Range, Children, Joe (Tersa) of Chicago, Isabella Maki of Chicago, Todd of South Range, Craig (Lisa) of Chicago, brothers, Clyde (Carolyn) Maki of South Range, Roger (Pamela) Maki of Atlantic Mine, Beverly (Delano) Harma of Trimountain, Barbara Krum of Atlantic Mine, Bruce (Sandy) Maki of Trimountain, Step-Children, Denise(Kevin) Maki of Tri-Mountain, Sara (Jim) Hanner of Trimountain, Jeff (Cheryl) Bloom of Boston Location/Hancock, Grandchildren, Traci, Joey, Amanda, Dawn, Michael, Ashley, Katie, Nicholas, Amanda, Jimmy, Erin and Great Grandchildren Mackenzie, Bryce, Nolan, Kai, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.The funeral service for Mr. Maki will be held at 11 AM Tuesday at the Grace Lutheran Church in South Range will Pastor Sally Wilke officiating. Burial will be in the Mountain View Cemetery in South Range. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Monday at the church and also one hour prior to the funeral service. In lieu of expression of sympathy condolences can be directed to Omega House or Grace Lutheran Church. The Memorial Chapel & Plowe funeral home is assisting the family.
