Obituary of Arthur Bruno PAlosaari Houghton Arthur B. Palosaari, a resident of Houghton, passed away Wednesday July 26, 2006, at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette 8 days after admission. He was born on August 3, 1917, in Calumet, a son of the late Charles and Sophie (Wiranniemi) Palosaari. As a child Art attended and graduated from the Calumet Schools. After high school Mr. Palosaari moved to the Detroit area where he was an apprentice Linesman. He moved back to the Calumet area to go into business with his brother where they operated the Parkside Bakery and Restaurant. He worked as a salesman on the West Coast for Nestle and in the Detroit area for Hughes and Hatcher clothing stores. Art was also the manager of the furniture department for the Salvation Army in the Detroit area. Locally he worked at the Best Western Kings Inn for 17 years retiring in 1995 as manager. On August 3, 1984, he was united in marriage to the former Carolyn Sutton. Art was a veteran having served with the United States Army during World War II with the Coastal Artillery in Washington State. Mr. Palosaari was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Hancock. Art enjoyed reading local and statewide newspapers, walking, playing pool, owling, and traveling. Preceding him in death where his parents; 4 Brothers and 2 Sisters. Thode of Renton, WA Several Nieces, Nephews, & Cousins A memorial service for Art will be held 11 a.m. this Saturday July 29, 2006, in the Zion Lutheran Church of Hancock with Rev. Gerry Southerton to officiate. Following the memorial service at the church the Copper Country Veteran's Association will hold military rites. Burial will be in the Lake View Cemetery of Calumet at a later time. Friends may call on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of the service.
