Obituary of Arvid Raasio Baraga Arvid H. Raasio, 87, a resident of M-38, Baraga, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Baraga County Memorial Hospital, in L'Anse early Sunday morning, April 25, 2004, following an apparent heart attack while at home. He was born on Sept. 25, 1916, in the Lake Annie District, a son of the late John and Anna (Kangas) Raasio and resided during his youth there. He later lived in the Detroit area for many years, making his home in Baraga for the last 8 years. On October 23, 1995, he was united in marriage to the former Anita Martinmaki. He was a member of the Pelkie Gospel Assembly Church and the U.A.W. He was also preceded in death by: his parents, 3 Brothers, and 1 Sister. Surving are: his wife, Anita 1 Daughter: LaVerne (Kenneth) Tremba of Lakeland, Florida 1 Son: Clarence Raasio of South Range 2 Step-Daughters: Carolyn Way of Rowlett, Texas Susan (Andrew) McFall of Parkville, Maryland 2 Step Sons: Mark (Johnna) Larson of Coppell, Texas Michael (Debbie) Larson of Terrell, Texas 1 Grand Daughter 3 Great Grandchildren 10 Step Grandchildren numerous nieces, nephews, & cousins As requested by the deaceased there will be no visitation or funeral service and graveside services will be held Wednesday at 2 P.M. at the Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock, with Tim Jurmu to officiate.
