Obituary of August Marinelli MR Hancock August "Gus" F. Marinelli, 86, a resident of Hancock and beloved husband of Gertrude Marinelli, passed away Saturday afternoon August 31, 2013, at home with his loving wife and family by his side. He was born on March 6, 1927, in Beacon Hill, a son of the late Louis and Maria Emelia Brida Marinelli. As a child, his family moved to Hancock where he attended the Hancock Schools. Mr. Marinelli was a veteran having served with the United States Army during World War II. Gus had worked for Vollwerths Sausage in Hancock retiring after 38 ½ years as a meat smoker. He worked for many years doing various demolition work and built chimneys. After retiring he worked as a custodian at the Douglas House in Houghton. On May 22, 1971, he was united in marriage to the former Gertrude Rothenberger. Mr. Marinelli was raised in the Catholic faith and was a member of Alfred Erickson Post #186 American Legion of Hancock. Preceding him in death were his parents, his grandchildren; Robert John Voght and Stacy Renee Pindral, his sister Anne Olson and nephew Tony Nutini. Surviving are: His wife of 42 years, Gertrude Marinelli of Hancock Their children: Marsha (Stefan) Wisniewski and their children Jerry (Tricia) Wisniewski, Stephanie (Mark Graff) Krieger, Susan (Joe Christenson) Rohn, Tanya (Nathan) Maki, Alexis (Chad) Snell, Angelica (Tony) Hebert, Ashley (Jeffery) Sudderth and Stefan (Lori) Wisniewski. William (Cindy) Marinelli and their children; Ryan (Amy) Marinelli, Robin (Clayton) Harma. Marti (Robert) Rashleigh and their children; Sherri (Keith) Holmgren, Robert (Megan) Rashleigh, Jennifer (Michael) Houser, Courtney (David) Beaudette & Timothy (Jessica Hipala) Rashleigh. Janey (Walter) Pindral and their children; Christopher (Jennifer) Pindral, Michael Pindral, Dustin (Erica) Pindral & Chelsey Pindral. Lynn Marinelli and her children; Robert Paul (Amy Jeffery)Voght & Jessica (Marty) Trevathan. Freida (Timothy) Lahti and their children: Heather Manninen and Holly Alcaz 41 great-grandchildren His sister Dorothy Nutini Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins His best friends: Ernie Luttinen and Ed Kenny Services for Gus will be held 11 am Thursday September 5, 2013, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with Fr. John Martignon to officiate. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday September 4, 2013, from 5 to 7 pm at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock, where a prayer service will be held at 6:30 pm.
