Obituary of Barbara Greenleaf Hancock Barbara (Jerome) Greenleaf, 68, a resident of Hancock, passed away at home Monday morning May 3, 2010, following a lengthy illness. She was born on May 22, 1941, in Milwaukee, WI, a daughter of the late Claude and Adeline (DeMeyer) Avery. Barbara graduated from Rufus King High School in 1959 and then graduated from Manpower Institute in the Milwaukee area. On September 3, 1960, she was united in marriage to Jerome Greenleaf. The couple would have celebrated their 50th anniversary this upcoming September. Barbara was first employed with FW Woolworth at the main offices in Milwaukee, WI. She then had drove school bus, while her and Jerome were raising their children. After making their home in Hancock, Barbara was employed with Michigan Technological University with the Food Service Department until health issues caused her to retire at a young age. Barbara was a member of the Catholic faith. She was a former president of the Tops Club and more recently enjoyed crocheting for the family and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents and one sister, Patricia Kochera. Surviving are: Her husband; Jerome of Hancock Her children: Wendy (Normand) Pellerin of Clinton, MS Jerome (Sherrie) Greenleaf Jr. of Newbrunswick, OH Jennifer (Alan) Gatlin of Hancock Ryan Greenleaf of Hancock Her grandchildren: Christine, Brittany, Paige, Jerry "JR", Danielle, Ronald, David, Ashley, Alex, and Joshua Jones A close friend: Becky Boerner of Rhinelander, WI Two great grandchildren Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins A private service for Barbara will be held at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with Fr. John Martignon to officiate. Friends may call on Friday May 7, 2010, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock from 4 to 7 pm.
