Obituary of Barbara J Copper City Barbara J. (Clyde) Dow, 74, a resident of Copper City, passed away Saturday evening January 21, 2012, at the Cypress Manor Nursing Home in Hancock where she had been a resident patient since this past October. She was born on October 21, 1937, in Laurium, a daughter of the late Frank and Rhoda (Richards) Thurner. Barbara graduated from the Calumet High School with the class of 1955. On June 18, 1955, she was united in marriage to Clyde Dow and the couple have made their home in Copper City for the past 50 years. Mrs. Dow received her nursing degree and was employed as a RN at St. Joseph's Hospital in Hancock until being diagnosed with MS in 1972. Barbara enjoyed visiting with family and friends playing cards, working crossword puzzles. Preceding her in death were her parents and her brother Karl Thurner. Surviving are: Her husband: Clyde Dow of Copper City Her children: David (Debi) Dow of Hancock Christine (Michael) Stark of Tucson, AZ Lisa (Robert) Siler of Chassell Patricia Dow of Arlington, TX Her grandchildren: Amanda (Jeff) Beneteau, Rebecca (John) Ylitalo, Elizabeth Dow, Erin Stark, and Eric Stark 3 great grandchildren: Connor, Caden & Maya and 2 more on the way Her sisters: Nancy Pintar of Hancock Deborah (Joe) Sossi of Calumet Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her beloved lapdog precious & grand puppies Allie & Jake. As requested, a private service for Barbara will take place at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with Rev. Robert Paul to officiate. Spring burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery of Calumet. Barbara was an inspiration to all with the way she led her life.
