Obituary of Barbara Jane Johnson Yarmouth Port, Mass Barbara Jane Johnson, born August 14, 1938, in Hancock, MI, passed away in Yarmouth Port, Mass, on Veterans Day, 2018. She honored her late husband, Stuart Bracken who served in the army and her father, Walter Johnson, who served in the Navy. She is survived by her sister Nancy (Norm) Kromer, Her children Randy (Christine) North and Pamela North, Her grandchildren, Naia, Cassie, Lexie and Mattieu, nephews Neil and Nelson and several cousins and close friends. Barbara also joins her beloved mother Jane in heaven.Barb graduation from Hancock Central High School with the class of 1956. Barbara an exceptional Scholar continued a family tradition of learning at the University of Michigan, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing with honors, graduating in 1960.Barbara worked most of her career in family practice at the McGill teaching hospital in Montreal. She was also the first woman on the Board of Directors at the Jewish General Hospital.She was a lifetime supporter of the A.A.U.W. She inspired the new generation with her love of learning, research and publishing, culinary skills, travel, art, music, history, theater and sport. She loved downhill skiing in New England with her husband Stuart and in Colorado with her sister Nancy. Kayaking on the inland water of Cape Cod was another favorite of hers with a group she organized.A Service was held in Chatham Mass, to honor her husband Stuart who passed away Sept 9, 2018.
