Obituary of Barbara Eve Lypsinmaa Hancock Barbara E. (Shetney) Lypsinmaa, 81, a resident of Minnesota St., Hancock, passed away Saturday morning July 14, 2007, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock where she had been a resident patient for the past month and a half. She was born on April 12, 1926, in Hancock a daughter of the late Albert Shetney and Helen Rauhala. As a child she attended the Houghton Schools. She left the Copper Country to work for Zenith Carburetor in Detroit and Cuttler Hammer in Milwaukee. After returning to the Upper Peninsula, she became a life time resident of Hancock. In 1947 she was united in marriage to Francis Lypsinmaa and he preceded her in death on December 14, 1995. Barbara attended Glad Tiding Assembly of God Church in Hancock. She liked to play Scrabble, work cross word puzzles, reading, listening to music and enjoyed camping with her sisters. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, a brother Jim Shetney and a sister Dorothy (Shetney) Burgbacher. Surviving are: Her children: Adele Lypsinmaa of Hancock and Mackinac Island David Lypsinmaa of Lower Pewabic Linda (Joe Kangas) Vandette of Trimountain Peggy (John) Busser of Dollar Bay Her grandchildren: Danielle & Michael Lypsinmaa, Ryan, Taylor & Brady Busser, Maxwell Vandette Her sister: Alice (Shetney) Steckel of Westland, MI Her brother-in-law: John Burgbacher of Beaver Dam, WI Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins Friends may call on Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Hancock from 3 to 6:30 p.m. when a service of remembrance will begin at 6:30 p.m. A graveside service for Barbara will be held 10 a.m. Thursday July 19, 2007, in the Lakeside Cemetery of Hancock. In lieu of flowers or other expressions of sympathy the family suggests that memorials be given to St. Vincent DePaul of Hancock.
