Barbara Ylitalo

Obituary of Barbara Ann Ylitalo Franklin Twp. Barbara A. Ylitalo, 69, a resident of Sing Sing Rd., Frenchtown Loc., passed away Sunday evening January 29, 2006, at the Portage Health Systems Hospital where she had been a patient since this past Friday. She was born on February 7, 1936 in Hancock, a daughter of the late John and Anna (Ollila) Baakko. Barbara was a life long resident of Frenchtown and was a graduate of the Hancock High School. On November 10, 1956, she was united in marriage to Edwin Ylitalo and he preceded her in death on January 22, 2003. Mrs. Ylitalo had worked in the Housekeeping department at the Cypress Manor Nursing Home in Hancock.. Barbara was a wonderful person that loved her family and spending time with her family she will be missed by all that knew her. Preceding her in death where her husband, her parents, 1 grandson: Tommy Ylitalo, and 2 Brothers: Donald Karppinen and Gerald Baakko. Surviving are: 2 Sons: Mark (Barb) Ylitalo of Calumet Keith Ylitalo of Frenchtown 1 Daughter: Sandy (Ken) Manninen of Portage Township 2 Grandsons: Eric and Joshua Ylitalo of Calumet 2 Sisters: Jean (William) Kotila of Franklin Twp. Christine Johnson of Houghton 2 Brothers: John Baakko of Sing Sing Loc. James Baakko of Hancock 1 Sister-in-law: Sharon Karppinen of South Range Numerous Aunts, Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins A Memorial service for Barbara will be held at 11 A.M. Friday February 3, 2006, in the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Hancock with Revs. Susan Odegard & Jimalee Jones to officiate. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 10 A.M. until time of services. The Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock is assisting the family with the arrangements.
