Obituary of Bertha Victoria Silvola Chassell Bertha V. Silvola, 83, a resident of Hancock St., Chassell, passed away Wednesday evening October 18, 2006, a the Cypress Manor Nursing Home in Hancock, following a lengthy illness, where she had been a resident patient for over the past nine months. Se was born on August 3, 1923, in Elo a daughter of the late Michael and Hannah (Haataja) Somero. Mrs. Silvola had resided in the Copper Country for most of her lifetime spending over the past 25 years in Chassell. Bertha had worked for the Scott Hotel in Hancock, the L'Anse Cleaners, and the Copper Country Sanitarium. Proceeding her in death was a son Gerald, 3 Grandchildren, her parents, 6 brothers, and 2 Sisters. Surviving are: 2 Sons: James (Marcia) Silvola of Chassell Michael Silvola of Liminga 6 Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren, & 1 Great Great Grandchild 1 Sister: Esther Kilpela of Elo Several nieces, nephews, and cousins Private funeral services for Bertha will be held this Monday October 23, 2006, in the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Chassell with the Pastor Kenneth Storm to officiate.
