Obituary of Betty Fort Betty T. Fort, 85, a resident/patient at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013. She was born in Houghton on October 10, 1927, the daughter of Charles and Susanna (Hakala) Taurianen and attended the local schools. Betty worked in Chicago and Florida, retired, and moved to the Marquette/Ishpeming area. She then moved to Hancock in 2004 and was a resident at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility. Betty loved all animals, especially dogs. Preceding her in death were her parents, eight brothers and two sisters. Surviving are one sister, June Manninen of Houghton and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A graveside service will be held in the spring at the family lot in the Askel Cemetery. The Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Hancock is in charge of the arrangements.
