Obituary of Betty Tauriainen Lake LindenBetty R. Tauriainen, 83, a resident of Lake Linden and formerly of Hubbell, passed away Sunday morning February 27, 2011, at the Portage Hospital following a short illness.She was born on November 22, 1927, in Detroit, MI, a daughter of the late Howard and Irene (Pope) Tuohy. Betty graduated from Redford Union High School with the class of 1945.On August 26, 1950, she was united in marriage to Fritz Tauriainen. Together, the couple resided in Detroit, Southfield, Houghton and Hubbell for over 40 years. Fritz preceded Betty in death on November 11, 2008. For the past two years, she has made her home in Lake Linden.Mrs. Tauriainen had worked as a nurse's aide for several health care institutions in the area, retiring from St. Joseph's Hospital.Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents, and three brothers; Donald, George and Walter.Surviving are:Her children: Donna (Dale) Perreault of Lake LindenDon (Dottie St.Amour) Tauriainen of Lake LindenHer grandchildren: Troy Perreault, Derek Perreault, Ryan Tauriainen & Andy Tauriainen.Her great grandchildren: Nicholas, Shyanne, Iris, Belle, and BradyHer brother: Lee (Gertie) Tuohy of Brooklyn, MIHer sisters: Jean (LeRoy) Smith of Harrison, MIShirley (Bryson) Maddick of Cadillac, MI Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousinsA private memorial service for Betty will be held at a later date at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with Licensed Lay Minister Clay Hilman to officiate. Spring burial will be held in the Askel Cemetery.
