Obituary of Bob Rimpela Grand RapidsBob Rimpela, 52, a former resident of Chassell and presently of Grand Rapids, MI, passed away suddenly in a fire Wednesday December 8, 2010, at his home in Grand Rapids.He was born on August 17, 1958, in Waynesville, MO, a son of Ronald and Joyce (Bjorklund) Rimpela. As a child, he moved with his family to Chassell were he graduated from the Chassell High School with the class of 1976. Following graduation, Bob enlisted with the United States Air Force. He then attended Michigan Technological University, where he graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Mr. Rimpela moved to Mancelona, MI to live and work. He then moved to Nunica, MI, where he has worked for Steel Case as a Quality Control Engineer.Bob enjoyed skiing, camping, and cabinet making.Preceding him in death were his paternal and maternal grandparents.Surviving are: His parents; Ronald and Joyce Rimpela of ChassellHis brothers & sister; Betty (Tom) Greenleaf of Marquette Brian (Julie) Rimpela of Hancock Kevin (Jenny) Rimpela of HubbellHis nieces and nephews; Holly (Mike) Lauren, Luke Heikkinen, Melissa Alquist, Lauren Britz, and Katie Britz.Several aunts, uncles, and cousins.As requested, a private service for Bob will be held at a later date at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Chassell with Rev. David Weber to officiate.
