Obituary of Carl Adolph Salmi Calumet Carl A. Salmi, 81, a former resident of Calumet passed away Wednesday September 17, 2008, at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility. He was born on May 29, 1927, in Baltic, a son of the late Kusti and Winnie (Aho) Salmi. As a child, he moved to the Quincy Hill area and attended the Pewabic School. Mr. Salmi has also resided in Ishpeming, Calumet, and Ironwood. Mr. Salmi was a veteran having served with the United States Army during World War II. Carl worked as a miner while he resided in the Ishpeming area and then at Jane's L&L Bar in Calumet while living in Calumet. Preceding him in death were his parents, his son Robin, his daughters Anita & Toni, 3 brothers; William, Walter, & Roy and 5 sisters: Ida Mattson, Eleanor Link, Edna Erickson, Helga Somero and Barbara cote. Surviving are: His daughters: Sharon (Daryl) DeLongchamp of Negaunee Vicki (John) Ostlund of Ishpeming Charlene (Richard) Hagerman of Chicago, IL Shelby (Paul) Hella of Calumet His son: Dann (Carrie) Salmi of Kaukauna, WI 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren His brother-in-law: Richard Cote of Kalamazoo, MI Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins A private graveside service for Carl will be held at a later date in the Mt.
