Obituary of Carl Tauriainen Chassell Carl E. Tauriainen. 77, a resident of U.S. 41 Chassell, passed away at his home on Thursday, September 9, 2004, following a short illness. He was born on April 2, 1927, in Askel, a son of the late Matt and Hilia (Moilanen) Tauriainen. He attended the Askel school and the Doelle School. He resided in Askel, Detroit and for the past year in Chassell. In 1984 he was united in marriage to the former Kathy Kukkonen she preceded him in death in 1995. On August 18, 2003, he was united in marriage to the former Pearl Kinnunen/Miron. Carl was a veteran having served with the United States Army from 1945-1947 in Italy and then again with the United States Navy from 1948-1950 on board the destroyer U.S.S. Harold J. Ellison. Carl worked various jobs before going to work at White Pine Copper Mine where he retired from. Mr. Tauriainen was a member of Mission United Lutheran Church of Pelkie,Post #7646 V.F.W. of Alston where he was a life member, the Otter Lake Sportsman's Club. Also preceding Carl in death where 2 Sisters: Viola and Vilma, and 2 Brothers: Reino and Richard. Surviving are: His wife Pearl, at home 1 Daughter: Laurel (Doug) Hill 7 Sons: Dean (Renee) Chapman Peter (Marcia) Chapman Todd Chapman Mark (Suzanne) Miron Vern (Christy) Miron Barry (LeAnne) Miron Christopher (Barbara) Miron 21 Grandchidren, 2 Great Grandchidlren 5 Sisters: Aili Vaughan Ruth (Robert) Bakalars Doris (Earl) Kersey Linda Wilson Elaine Bacon 2 Brothers: David Tauriainen Raymond (Donna) Tauriainen numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins Funeral services for Carl will be held on Sunday September 12, 2004, at 3 P.M. at the Misson United Lutheran Church of Pelkie with Rev. Thomas Wickstrom to officiate. Burial will be in the Askel Cemetery on Monday at 10 A.M.. Friends may call at the Church on Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until time of services.
