Obituary of Clara Rose Dollar BayClara L. Rose, 87, a former resident of Dollar Bay, passed away Friday morning February 3, 2012, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock, where she had been a resident patient for the past year and a half.She was born on July 29, 1924, in Baltic, a daughter of the late Andrew and Clara (Trethewey) Sweet. As a child, Clara attended the Painesdale Schools.In 1947, she was united in marriage to William M. Rose. The couple made their home in Dollar Bay where Clara resided until becoming a resident patient at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility. William preceded Clara in death in 1978.During the 1950's Clara was employed at the Copper Range Laundry and in the 1980's she helped with the Dollar Bay High School hot lunch program. Mrs. Rose was a member of the Painesdale Methodist Church. Clara enjoyed Crocheting and working jig saw puzzles at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility with Debbie and Mark. She was also a devoted mother who loved to care for her family.Preceding her in death were her husband, her daughter Ann Marie Rose, her parents, her brother Lawrence Sweet, her sisters, Lucille (Sylvio) Guisfredi, Alice (Angelo) Guisfredi, Ruth Stasil, and Priscilla (Orlando) Phillipp.Surviving are: Her children: William "Bill" (Mary) Rose of Dollar BaySharyn (Don) Dodge of Dollar Bay Diana (Louie) Clouthier of BootjackHer grandchildren: Stephanie (Jordan) DeForge & Robert RoseHer great grandchildren: Emily, Jacob, and Josephine DeForgeHer brothers-in-law: Bruno Stasil of BalticThomas Rose of HoughtonHer sisters-in-law: Coletta Rose of HoughtonMarion Sweet of Grand Haven, MI Her aunt: Mary Trethewey of Holland, MIHer best friends: Don & Lorraine RichardsHer good neighbors: Cheryl, Barb, and Lowie PellandHer extended family at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility.Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousinsFuneral services for Clara were held 11 am Monday February 6, 2012, at the Plowe Funeral Home of Houghton with Rev. Lillian Richards to officiate.
