Hancock

Clifford Warren Hill, 88, a resident of Hancock and former Ontonagon resident passed away peacefully at Canal View in Hancock, Michigan, with family by his side.

He was born in Peeksville, Wisconsin, on January 5, 1936, to Warren and Lila (Doers) Hill. When he was three years old the family moved to Ontonagon, Michigan.

On June 28, 1958, he married Judy Kuehnl of Bruce Crossing, Michigan. They have four children.

Cliff worked at the paper mill in Ontonagon for 40 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, picking up agates, boating, snowmobiling, traveling, and hobby farming.

Cliff was a very smart and inventive person. In 1991 he launched a 39-foot, steel-hulled sailboat he spent seven years building by himself. It is named the Sea Camp, and Cliff and Judy enjoyed sailing Lake Superior in it for many years. The Sea Camp remains a star attraction at the Ontonagon Harbor Marina.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Elaine (Allen) and Lois (Dan), and brothers Larry and Russell.

He is survived by his wife Judy, sons Warren of Garland, Texas, and Wayne (Marcy) of Newton, North Carolina, daughters Sharon of Calumet, Michigan, and Susan of Hancock, grandchildren Michael (Jessica), Dan (Stephanie), Korina, Jesse (Marie), Lauren (Wesley), Jeff (Amanda), Jeremy, Timothy, Christian (Ynes), and Hannah (Zach), and ten great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Kye, Annabella, Clifford, Logan, Kinsey, Ophelia, Julia, John, and Fennel, sister Elizabeth, brother-in-law Bernie (Frances), and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Cliff will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Canal View doctors and nursing care staff for taking such wonderful care of Cliff.
