Obituary of Clyde Dow Copper City Clyde R. Dow, a resident of Copper City and former Hancock business owner passed away Saturday afternoon November 30, 2013, at the Cypress Manor Nursing Home in Hancock where he had been a resident for the past eight months. He was born on June 25, 1934, in Mohawk, MI, a son of the late William and Ruth (Cronenworth) Dow. He was a graduate of the Calumet High School with the class of 1952. Mr. Dow was a veteran having served with the United States Army overseas. He returned home and began working for the Hecla Mining Company in the maintenance department. Clyde then managed the Laurium Texaco for Range Oil & Gas Company until 1967, and then managed Bruno's Texaco in Hancock. He purchased the business in 1988 and in 1995 sold the business to his son David. On June 18, 1955, he was united in marriage to the former Barbara Thurner. The couple resided for most of their lives in Copper City where they raised four children. On January 21, 2012, Barbara preceded Clyde in death. Clyde spent his free time caring for his wife, working on cars and tinkering around the home. Also preceding him in death were his sister Janet Sickler and an infant brother David. Surviving are: His children: David (Debi) Dow of Hancock Christine (Michael) Stark of Tucson, AZ Lisa (Robert) Siler of Chassell Patricia Dow of Arlington, TX His grandchildren: Amanda (Jeff) Beneteau, Rebecca (John) Ylitalo, Elizabeth Dow, Erin Stark and Eric Stark. His great grandchildren: Connor, Caden, Maya, Avery and Tyler. His sister: Charlotte Belobradich of Calumet His dog Precious and grand dogs Allie & Jake Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins As requested, a private service for Clyde will be held and spring burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery of Calumet.
