Constance Soumis-Olson (Durand)

Chassell Constance Connie Soumis Olson, 94, a resident of Chassell, passed away September 17th, 2020, surrounded by her family at home. She was born September 9th, 1926, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin and later moved to Freda, Michigan with her family, Napoleon and Irene Durand. She graduated from Houghton High School and prior to marriage was employed at the Kirkish West End market. On May 28th, 1947 she married Edward Anthony Tony Soumis. He preceded her in death in July of 1983. In 1993 she married Vernon Olson who preceded her in death in March of 2006. Connie had one sister, Marquita (Durand) Dorrance, who preceded her in death. She is survived by three children: David (Diane) Soumis of McFarland, Wisconsin, Duane (Marie) Soumis of Clarksville, Tennessee and Darrin (Joy) Soumis of Rindge, New Hampshire. Her grandchildren Shane (Camille) Soumis, Travis Soumis, Trent (Chantel) Soumis, Stephanie Soumis, Tyler Soumis, Felicia (Waylon) West, Toni and Terry Soumis. Great grandchildren Noah and Otto Soumis, Everette and Theo West. She is also served by numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. Special thanks to Paulette Archambeau and the Niemela's for everything they have done for Connie over the years and special thanks to all the care givers who had come to help. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00 am Friday September 25, 2020, at St. Annes Catholic Church with Fr. Thomas Merkel to celebrate.
