Obituary of Darrell Baker Marquette/Chassell/Twin Lakes Darrell E. Baker Jr., 62, passed away Tuesday January 11, 2011, at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI following a nine-week illness of Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He was born on May 21, 1948, in Flint, MI, a son of the late Darrell E. Baker Sr. and Margaret (Amthor) Baker. As a child he moved to Marquette and graduated from the Marquette High School. Following school Darrell became a millwright and was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners of America Local #1510, retiring seven years ago. On May 13, 1988 he was united in marriage to Mary Luttinen. Together the couple has resided in Marquette, Chassell and Twin Lakes. Darrell's many activities included spending time with his children & grandchildren, gardening, canning, baking bread, berry picking, hunting & fishing. He also loved spending time at the Twin Lakes cottage, morning coffee at Krupps, trips to Hawaii and whale watching. Preceding him in death were his parents, his brother Bernard and his nephew Jason Laurich. Surviving are: His wife: Mary Luttinen of Marquette His children: Darrell E. Baker IV, Rebekah Salo, Hunter Baker, Kelli Baker, Stepheniey Lyke, Magena Lyke, Brooke Mannor, Emily Mannor, Douglas Mannor, Dustin Mannor, Megan Mannor, Madeline Mannor, Sam Phillips, Lindsay Phillips, Andrew Hares and Jacob Hares His great-grandchildren: Gabby Salo, Adrianne Baker & Jocelyn Erickson His brothers: Christopher (Karen) Baker of Hawaii Michael (Kathy) Baker of Florida Steven (Patty) Baker of Skandia Richard Baker of Marquette William (Tina) Baker of Marquette His sister: Sharon Laurich of Harvey His mother-in-law: Cecelia Luttinen, a resident patient at PortagePointe in Hancock His sister-in-law & brother-in-law: Gary & Barbara Worrall of Chassell The mother of his children Jill Baker of Skandia An aunt & uncle & numerous nieces, nephews, and friends Funeral services for Darrell will be held 1 pm Saturday, January 15, 2011, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with Deacon Jack Leadbetter to officiate. Spring burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery in Winona, MI. Friends may call on Saturday, January 15, 2011, from 11 am until time of services at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1017 W.
