Obituary of David John Edwards Liminga David J. Edwards, 84, a resident of Liminga passed away Thursday afternoon June 25, 2015, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock where he had been a resident for the past year and half. He was born on May 19, 1931, in Hancock, a son of the late Irving and Dorothy (Lewis) Edwards. David was a graduate of the Houghton High School and attended Michigan Technological University. Mr. Edwards was a veteran having served with the United States Army. On November 20, 1953, he was united in marriage to the former Barbara Ann Hauswirth. After 51 years together Barbara preceded David in death on March 24, 2004. Dave had worked various jobs such as a Welder for the White Pine and Homestake Mines and retired from Superior Sand and Gravel as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. Mr. Edwards was a member of Grace United Methodist Church of Houghton. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, boating, fishing and even raced snowmobiles as a young man. Preceding him in death were his wife Barbara, his infant grandson C Anthony Baldus and his parents. Surviving are: Thomas Edwards of Houghton Betsy (George) Hocking of Liminga Rachel (Dion) Baldus of Aurora, COSuzy (Tim) Young of HoughtonJoseph Edwards of Petosky 9 grandchildren 3 great grandchild His brother: Paul (Gil) Repath of Alpena, MI His sister-in-law: Joann Hauswirth of Hancock Several nieces, nephews, and cousins Funeral services for David will be held 1 pm Monday June 29, 2015, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with Rev. Chuck Williams to officiate. Military honors will be conducted by the Copper Country Veterans Association. Burial will be in the Liminga Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call on Sunday June 28, 2015, from 4 to 8 pm at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock and on Monday from 12 noon until time of services at the funeral home.
