Obituary of David Leddy MR HancockDavid G. Leddy, 75, a resident of Hancock and formerly of Houghton passed away Monday morning April 28, 2014, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock where he had been a resident patient for the past four months.He was born on October 16, 1938, in Saginaw, MI, a son of the late Wilbur and Bertha Leddy. David was raised in the Saginaw area and graduated from Arthur Hill High School with the class of 1956. He then obtained his Bachelor Degree in Chemistry from Michigan Technological University and his PhD in Chemistry from the University of Kansas. Mr. Leddy taught in the Chemistry Department at Michigan Technological University from 1965 until his retirement in 2002.David was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Houghton and the Copper Country Kiwanis where he was active with the Nail Bender Group building ramps for the handicapped. He was also active with various professional societies related to his field of work. David also enjoyed spending time outdoors and singing.Preceding him in death were his infant daughter Jill, great granddaughter Faith, his sister Charlotte, along with his parents.Surviving are: His wife: Judith Leddy of Hancock His daughter: Catherine (Larry Brader) Leddy of Snohomish, WAHis son: Michael Leddy of Waco, TXHis grandchildren: Alexandra Brader, Callie Brader, Zachary Brader, Lacey Walter, Brittany (John) Kilpela & Ashley (DJ) Paavo His great grandchildren: Andre, Ethan, Levi, Hannah, Isaiah, Christian, & AdrianaHis brother: Larry (MaryKay) Leddy of Saginaw, MI His four legged companion SplashNumerous nieces, nephews, and cousinsA memorial service for David will be held 2 pm Sunday May 11, 2014, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Houghton with Rev. Bucky Beach to officiate. Burial will be held at a later time in the Ridge Cemetery of Gladwin, MI.Friends may call on Sunday May 11, 2014 from 1 pm until time of services at the church.In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family suggests that memorials be given the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Houghton or the Omega House of Houghton in memory of David G.
