Obituary of Dean Roger Albrecht Houghton Dean Albrecht, 81, area businessman and resident of Houghton passed away suddenly from an apparent heart attack Wednesday morning June 3, 2015, at his home. He was born on December 10, 1933, in Sturgeon Bay, WI, a son of the late Earl and Louise (Woulf) Albrecht. Dean was raised in Sturgeon Bay and Egg Harbor, WI, graduating from Gibraltar High School, Egg Harbor in 1952. He then attended St. Norberts College before enlisting in the United State Marine Corp. He then returned to St. Norberts College before graduating from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee with a degree in Business. On October 30, 1954, he was united in marriage to the former Evelyn Knudson. The couple had resided in Rice Lake, Wisconsin while Dean had worked as a Claims Adjuster for General Adjustment Bureau. In 1967 he moved to Houghton to work as a Claims Adjuster locally and in Marquette. Since 1977, Dean has owned and operated with his wife the Haapala Insurance Agency in Chassell. Mr. Albrecht was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church of Houghton, Knights of Columbus, Chassell Lions Club, FOE #404 of Calumet, and was a member of the Portage Lake Mens Golf League. Dean loved to spend time on the golf course. As a young man, he also enjoyed being active outdoors, skiing downhill and cross country. Preceding him in death were his parents, his son Craig, an infant sister and his brother Allen. A Mass of Christian Burial for Dean will be held 11 am Monday June 8, 2015, at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church of Houghton with Fr. John Martignon to officiate. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery, where the Copper Country Veterans Association will hold military rites. Friends may call on Sunday June 7, 2015, from 5 to 7 pm at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church of Houghton and on Monday from 10 am until time of services at the church.
