Obituary of Dolores A Houghton Dolores A. Aho, 90, a resident of the Douglass House Apartments and former Hancock resident, passed away at her home Friday morning January 20, 2006. She was born on September 28, 1915, in Calumet, a daughter of the late John Y. and Hannah (Pietila) Johnson. In 1935, she was united in marriage to Aimo "Tubby" Aho and he preceded her in death on February 2, 2001. Dolores had owned and operated Aho's Fashion Shop in Hancock. Mrs. Aho was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Hancock. She was a devoted mother and grandmother that truly loved her family. Surviving are: 2 Daughters: Gloria (Marvin) Mayra of Hancock Marcia (William) Malinowski of Grand Rapids, MI 3 Grandchildren: Michael (Lisa) Mayra of Troy, MI Lyn (Douglas) Owsiak of Pewaukee, WI Lisa (Harold) Sommer of Rockford, MI 2 Step-Grandchildren: Kim Sommer of Rockford, MI Tory Sommer of Rockford, MI 8 Great Grandchildren: Nickolas (Kristine) Mayra, Jeffery (Lesley) Mayra, Nina Mayra, Sarah Mayra, Michael Owsiak, Rachael Owsiak, Taylor Sommer, & Anna Sommer. A cousin Diane Benchench of Calumet 2 Special Friends: Mary Harju of Houghton Carol Garrison of Houghton Several nieces and nephews A Memorial service for Dolores will be held 11 A.M., this Monday January 23, 2006, at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Hancock with Revs. Jimalee Jones and Susan Odegard to officiate. Spring burial will be at the Lake View Cemetery in Calumet. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 10 A.M. until time of services. The Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock has been assisting the family with the arrangements. The family suggests, in lieu of flowers or others expressions of sympathy, memorials may be given to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Hancock.
