Obituary of Donald William Huhta Onnela Donald W. Huhta, 80, a resident of Onnela passed away Friday afternoon September 20, 2007, at his home. He was born on July 6, 1927, in Waukegan, IL, a son of the late Yalmer and Julia (Wantaja) Huhta. As a child he moved with his family to Jacobsville where he attended the Jacobsville School. Don has also resided in Detroit, Milwaukee, and for the past 41 years made his home in Onnela. Mr. Huhta was a veteran, having served with the United States Army Air Corp during World War II. On August 26, 1950, he was united in marriage to the former Mildred Riutta. Donald had worked as a pipefitter by trade being a member of and working for pipefitters Local #414 out of Marquette, MI. Don loved the outdoors, hunting, farming and tinkering around his home. Preceding him in death was a granddaughter Malai Kai Huhta, his parents, and a sister Phyllis Kilpela. Kurt (Tasha) Huhta of Anchorage, Alaska 4 Grandsons: Josiah, Evan, Seth and Colin 3 Granddaughters: Rebecca, Emma, and Jasmine His Brother: Ray (Doris) Huhta of Horizon City, Texas His sister-in-laws: Verna Johnson Alice (Ron) Jestila Violet Tuomi Lillian Hermanson Esther (Rick) Hietala Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins Funeral service for Donald will be held 11 a.m. Friday September 28, 2007, in the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with Clarence Marttila to officiate. Burial will be in the Oskar Cemetery where the Copper Country Veteran's Association will hold military rites. Friends may call on Thursday September 27, 2007, in the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock from 5 to 7 p.m. and on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of services.
