Obituary of Donald Johnson MR Hancock Donald R. Johnson, 68, a resident of Hancock and former area businessman passed away Sunday evening January 5, 2015, at Portage Health where he had been a patient for the past 5 days.He was born on May 12, 1945, in Oak Park, IL, a son of the late Richard and Shirley (Bush) Johnson. Don was raised in Naperville, IL, and graduated from the Naperville Central High School with the class of 1963. He then attended Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL and graduated from Northland College in Ashland, WI with a business degree.On September 25, 1971 he was united in marriage to the former Annabelle Pintar. The couple raised six children together. Mr. Johnson was a member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Hancock. Don was a born salesman that enjoyed visiting with people. He spent most of his working days selling cars or advertising spots for various newspapers or radio stations. He also had owned and operated Johnson's Quick Print for a number of years. More recently he was very proud of his newspaper, which he owned and published, the Yooper Spectator. Don's sharp wit, kind heart, outgoing personality, and entrepreneurial ambitions prevailed throughout his life.Preceding him in death were his parents and an infant sister Barbara.Surviving are: His wife Annabelle Johnson of Hancock His children: Richard (Amanda) Johnson of Atlantic MineClint (Anita) Johnson of Hancock Leanne (Derrek) Wilson of Watford City, NDRenee Johnson of Hancock Laurena (Kurt) Blakeman of Marengo, WIMelanie (Clint) Bush of Marengo, WI 14 grandchildren His brother: Robert (Gloria) Johnson of Barrington, IL His sister: Lori (Phillip) Ryan of Chandler, AZNumerous nieces, nephews, cousins & many friends.Funeral services for Don will be held 1 pm Thursday January 9, 2014, at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Hancock with Douglas Wuebben to officiate.
