Obituary of Donald Workman North Grosse Pointe ShoresDonald L. Workman, 67, a resident of North Grosse Pointe Shores passed away unexpectedly Thursday September 23, 2010, at his home.He was born on June 18, 1943, in Bay City, MI, a son of the Geraldine (Plowman) Workman and the late Arthur Workman. Don was a graduate of Rodney B. Wilson High School in St. John's, MI, he then attended Michigan State University and Michigan Technological University where he graduated with a degree in history. In 1976 Don moved to the Copper Country and since 1984 has made his home in North Grosse Pointe Shores.Mr. Workman had been part owner of the Board of Trade Tavern, tended Bar at various taverns in the area, was a licensed real-estate agent working for Re-Max Restate of Houghton, was a licensed home inspector, had been a sales person for WOLV Radio and Charter Media, and most recently was employed with the Meals on Wheels program.Mr. Workman had a wide range of interests he enjoyed gardening, playing pool, reading, golfing, following the democratic party, living on his farm. He was a past president of the Local MLBA in 1982 and 1983, and was a former member of the Foresters. He was an avid supporter of the Copper Country Human Society.Preceding him in death was his father.Surviving are: His mother Geraldine Workman of Alma, MIHis sister: JoAnn (George) Ford of Moran, MI His brother: Ed Workman of IndianaHis long time special friends Justin & Ruby Marzke of Laurium and their children Penny & Heather.Tom & Jeannie Parrish of Dollar Bay His long time companions: Henry, Millie, Sammy, & Rocky. Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friendsA memorial service for Don will be held 1 pm Monday September 27, 2010, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral home of Hancock with Rev.
