Obituary of Donna Silbert Houghton Donna M. "Hietala" Silbert, 67, a former resident of the Houghton Area, passed away early Friday morning, Nov. 28, 2003, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock, where she has been a resident patient since May of 1996. The former Donna Mae Hietala, was born on May 15, 1936, in the Houghton Canal District, a daughter of the late Frank and Mayme (Patana) Hietala. She later resided in the Paradise District, Painesdale, Minneapolis, Minnesota area and the Houghton area. In 1990, she moved to Tennessee and returned to the Copper Country in 1993. She was a graduate of the Chassell High School. During Donna's working life, she had worked in a factory; managed a discount store; and also was an apartment manager. Also preceding Donna in death were 1 Brother Clifford and 1 Sister Sandra Lee Hietala. Surviving are: 1 Daughter: Joyce Ann Greenwood of Whites Creek, Tenn. 1 Son: Jeffrey Sherwood of Texas 3 Grandchildren 3 Great Grandchildren 3 Brothers: Edsel (Joyce) Hietala of Painesdale Robert Hietala of Liminga Ronald (Jackie) Hietala of Mukwonago, WI 3 Sisters: Mary Ann (James) Dunstan of Dodgeville Dagmar Lee (Frank) Morin of Houghton Bonnie Rae (Al) Degenhardt of Brookfield, WI 1 Aunt numerous nieces, nephews, & cousins Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, at 2 P.M in the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock, with Rev. Elmer Liimatta to officiate. Spring interment to be in the Oskar Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, from 6 to 8 P.M. and for 1 hour prior to services on Tuesday.
