Obituary of Dorothy Leigh Hanner Dodgeville Dorothy L. (Bill) Hanner, 69, a former resident of Dodgeville passed away Wednesday evening September 11, 2019, at the Canal View—Houghton County following a lengthy illness. She was born on May 24, 1950, in Laurium, MI, a daughter of Elizabeth (Jarvis) Hiltunen and the former Sulo Hiltunen. Dorothy was raised in Tamarack City and was a graduate of the Dollar Bay High School with the class of 1968. She then attended a floral arranging school in Denver, CO. On August 23, 1969, she was united in marriage to Bill Hanner. The couple had resided in Gilbert, MN, and since 1987 made their home in Dodgeville. Mrs. Hanner had been employed for Payless Shoes being a store manager in Gilbert, MN and locally in Houghton until her health forced an early retirement. She was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Hancock. She loved to work in her flower gardens and help arrange flowers anytime she could. Surviving are: Her husband: Bill Hanner of Dodgeville Her children: Kevin (Liela) Hanner of Buckeye, AZ Jeff (Heather) Hanner of Eleva, WI Her grandchildren: Kennedy, Rylee, Carson, Paige, Brennan and Sydnee. Her mother: Betty Hiltunen of Houghton A cousin: Ron Halmesmaki of Houghton A private graveside service for Dorothy will be held at a later time in the Forest Hill Cemetery of Houghton.
