Obituary of Douglas J. Joyal Dollar Bay Douglas J. Joyal, 74, a resident of Fir Ave., Dollar Bay, passed away early Saturday morning December 9, 2006, at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born on July 2, 1932, in Pointe Mills a son of the late John Joseph and Milma Elizabeth (Lassila) Joyal. Mr. Joyal was a graduate of the Dollar Bay High School and attended Ferris State University. Mr. Joyal had resided in East Lansing while he worked for Michigan State University as a Book Buyer. In 1987, he moved back to Dollar Bay and has resided there since. Mr. Joyal was a veteran having served with the United States Army during the Korean War. On September 14, 1956 he was united in marriage to Bonnie Weideman and this past September they celebrated their 50th Anniversary. Mr. Joyal was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Dollar Bay. Douglas had many interests but truly enjoyed golfing and camping in the summer and making ice skating rinks in the winter for the neighborhood kids. Preceding him in death were his parents, his Brother Stanley J. Joyal, and his uncle Marvin Joyal. Surviving are: His wife Bonnie of Dollar Bay 5 children: Claudette Lynn (Michael) Curl of Dimondale, MI Michael (Marie) Joyal of East Tawas, MI Laine (Andrew Jr.) Maxson of Toivola, MI Mark (Florence) Joyal of Ripley, MI Lisa (Donald) McGehee of Okemos, MI 19 Grandchildren, 1 Great Grandchild 2 nieces and several cousins A celebration of Douglas's life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday December 12, 2006, in the First Lutheran Church of Dollar Bay with Intern Pastor Nicholas Hopman to officiate. Friends may call on Tuesday at the Church from 10 a.m. until time of services. In Lieu of flowers or other expressions of sympathy the family suggests that memorials may be given to the Dollar Bay Tamarack City School Library.
