Obituary of Earl Alexander MR. JR
Dollar Bay Earl R. Alexander Jr., a resident of Dollar Bay passed away Monday February 3, 2014, at home following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born on December 13, 1949, in Wyandotte, MI, a son of the late Earl and Irma (Clawson) Alexander. He was raised in Lincoln Park, MI, and was a graduate of the Lincoln Park High School. He also was a graduate of Western Michigan University. Mr. Alexander was a veteran having served with the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Following college, Earl moved to the Copper Country to work as a Social Worker for the Good Will Farm where he retired from this past summer after 30 years of service. Earl had resided in Houghton and for the past 25 years has made his home in Dollar Bay. Earl enjoyed spending time with his grandsons, taking them fishing and playing outdoor sports. He also enjoyed following the Detroit Red Wings, Lions, and the Michigan Tech sports teams. Preceding him in death were his parents and his sister Bonnie Alexander. Surviving are: His daughter: Leah (Brent) Isaacson of Houghton His grandsons: Nathan Isaacson of Houghton Rylan Isaacson of Houghton His sister: Linda (Gary) Gurniak of Taylor, MI His nephews: Mark and Jeff of Romulus, MI His loving dog Norton Special friends: Bob and Marti Rashleigh A memorial service for Earl will be held 1 pm Friday February 7, 2014, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with Rev. David Weber to officiate. Spring burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery of Houghton. Friends may call on Friday February 7, 2014, from 12 noon until time of services at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock.
