The daughter of Alex and Emma (Berg) Hannula, she was born May 6, 1921 in Redridge. Edith graduated from Painesdale High School in 1938. She married Raymond Peters of Freda on July 22, 1940. As part of the war effort, the couple lived and worked in Alabama, relocating to the Boston, Mass. area immediately after WW II before returning to the Upper Peninsula to make their home. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service after serving 15 years as Chassell Postmaster. A perfectionist, Edith enjoyed cooking in her country kitchen and tending to home and family in addition to holding two jobs. Edith's work ethic and devotion to high standards inspired those around her. Edith was a longtime member of the Federal Retired Employees Association, the Chassell VFW Post 6507 Women's Auxiliary and Holy Trinity Church of Chassell. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a sister, Norma; and five brothers, Ronald, Ralph, Dave, Charles and James.
