Obituary of Edna Ryynanen Houghton Edna I. Ryynanen, 100, a former resident of Houghton passed away Sunday morning December 16, 2012, at the Cypress Manor Nursing Home in Hancock, where she had been a resident patient.She was born on February 17, 1912, in Houghton, a daughter of the late Edward and Hilma (Rolig) Ryynanen. She was a graduate of the Houghton High School with the class of 1929.Following graduation, Edna worked for McDonald's Store in Houghton, Swift's Hardware, the Star Bakery, and retired from U.P. Power.Ms. Ryynanen was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Houghton.Also preceding her in death were her brothers, Eino and Edwin; and her sisters; Esther Ryynanen, Ellen Ryynanen and Katri Laakso.Surviving are: Her nieces and nephews and their familiesFuneral services for Edna will be held 2 pm Wednesday December 19, 2012, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock with Richard Eskola to officiate.
