Obituary of Edward Glowacki MD
Houghton Edward T. Glowacki M.D., 78, a resident of The Bluffs in Houghton passed away Wednesday morning May 25, 2005, at this home following a lengthy illness. He was born on September 19, 1926, in Detroit Michigan a son of the late John and Josephine ( Czyzewski) Glowacki. Ed has resided in Detroit, Grosse Pointe Woods, Grosse Pointe Shores, and in 1976 he moved to the Clearwater, FL area and resided there year round until 1994. At that time he visited the U.P. and fell in love with the area. He built a home on Keweenaw Bay and spent the spring, summer and fall in the Copper Country and the winter in Florida. For the past year and a half he has been a resident at the Bluffs in Houghton. Dr. Glowacki was a graduate of the University of Detroit Mercy in 1950, and the Wayne State Medical School in 1954. He was Board Certified in Anesthesiology & a Fellow of the American Society of Anesthesiologists. He practiced in Detroit & Grosse Pointe, Michigan, and later in Clearwater Florida, retiring in 1988. He had a love of medicine and was very well respected in his field. On June 16, 1947, he was united in marriage to the former Helen Mikus. He was a veteran having served with the United States Navy. Dr. Glowacki was a member of the American Medical Association. In his spare time Ed enjoyed making Sourdough Bread and sharing it with his friends and the acquaintances he made. Preceding him in death were his parents; and 1 Daughter: Leslie Jo. Surviving are: His Wife Helen of Houghton 5 Children: Karen (Vince) Gennaro of Westchester, NY Edward (Lynn) Glowacki Jr. of Chassell Robert (Merci) Glowacki of Raleigh, NC Laurel Glowacki of Euless, TX Paul (Jan) Glowacki of Rochester, MN 6 Grandchildren: Danielle, Robert Jr., Edward III, Alissa, Hannah, & Greta 1 Brother: Leonard Glowacki of Dunedin, FL A Friend: Gary Taylor of Texas Several nieces, nephews, and cousins A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 A.M. Saturday May 28, 2005, at St. Anne's Catholic Church of Chassell with Fr. Larry VanDamme as celebrant. Burial will be in the Chassell Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday May 27, 2005, from 6 to 8 P.M. in the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Chassell were a Parish Prayer service will be held at 7:30 P.M.
