Edward Karinen

LAnseEdward Eddie John Karinen, 72, a resident of LAnse passed away peacefully on Friday, October 8, 2021, at Mission Point of Hancock following a lengthy illness.Eddie was born on January 27, 1949, in Detroit, to Robert Martin and Ilmi Ethelyn (Tulppo) Karinen. A few years later the family returned to the homestead area of Tapiola. Eddie was an avid collector of comic books, Star Trek mementos, and teddy bears. Upon graduation from Doelle High School, he worked for H and R Block. He later became a machine operator and foreman at UP Plastics in Baraga, and eventually retired in LAnse. Ed enjoyed driving his mother to church and helping others. He belonged to the Sunday worship group at Greenhill Manor and will be remembered by close friends and family as, Sugar Bear.Preceding Ed in death were his parents and his brother, Keith. He is survived by a sister, Janet E. Allison (nee Karinen) of Roscommon, a brother Lowell M.
