Obituary of Edward Lahnala Atlantic Mine Edward (Eppie) H. Lahnala, age 93 of Atlantic Mine, passed away on December 6, 2009 at Cypress Manor where he had been a resident patient since June of this year. Edward was born on March 31, 1916 in Liminga. He was the last remaining sibling of the late Charles and Lydia (Yrjana) Lahnala. He attended the Liminga school. He farmed for many years on the family farm in Liminga. He had been employed by Michael Messner Sawmill, Freda Mill, Anderson Logging, Quincy Smelter and Suomi College. He was married to Aune Luoma on July 24, 1947. He was a member of the Liminga/Atlantic Mine congregation of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife Aune, a resident of Cypress Manor; a son Erland (Barbara) Lahnala of Atlantic Mine; three daughters, Beatrice Lahti of Fulton, Laura (Hartley) Collins of Liminga and Phyllis (Ernie) Kuusisto of Jacobsville. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding him in death were his parents; an infant son Wallace; an infant daughter Sandra Louise, his brothers Walter, Heimo, William, Carl and Peter; sisters, Hilda Lahnala, Eva Danielson, Ellen Wallace and Elsie Pyykkonen;a son-in-law Bill Lahti, a grandson Dan Lahti, a granddaughter Karen Sue Kuusisto and two great grandsons Roman Tapio and Collin Erkkila. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., on Thursday, December 10 at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church, Sharon Avenue in Houghton with Richard Eskola to officiate. Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 9 from 5:00-8:00 p.m., and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Spring burial will be in the Liminga Cemetery.
