Obituary of Edward John Stimac Atlantic Mine Edward "Jack Harney" Stimac, 63, a resident of Atlantic Mine, passed away Monday August 18, 2008, at the Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove, IL, where he had been a patient for the past month. He was born on November 13, 1944, in Trimountain, a son of the late Edward and Josephine (O'Connell) Stimac. Ed was a graduate of the Jeffers High School with the class in 1961, he then attended a school for Radio Broadcasting in Minnesota. On March 18, 1967, Ed was united in marriage to the former Marjorie Junttonen. Together, the couple had resided in the Chicago area and Lombard, IL. While residing in Illinois, Mr. Stimac had worked as a broadcast engineer for various radio stations and taught at Brown Institute for Radio Broadcasting. Since 2001, the couple has made their home in Atlantic Mine and Ed worked locally for the WMPL, WOLV, and EAGLE radio stations where he became known as "Jack Harney". Ed loved to spend time outdoors camping and hiking, working in his workshop on projects and listening to music. He also spent many years volunteering with Boy Scouts as a Scout Master. Preceding him in death were his parents and his four legged friend Chester. John Martignon to officiate. Friends may call on Thursday August 21, 2008, from4 to 8 p.m. at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock where a parish prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. and on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of services.
