Obituary of Edwin Dove Painesdale Edwin W. Dove, 91, a resident of Painesdale, passed away Thursday March 28, 2013, at the Cypress Manor Nursing Home in Hancock where he had been a resident patient for the past 3 1/2 years. He was born on July 13, 1921, in Trout Creek, a son of the late Adolph Dove and Lempi (Wanhala)(Dove) Niemi. He was the oldest of nine children. He attended the Chassell School. Edwin worked for various saw mills in Toivola and Twin Likes. He also worked in the CCC camps before entering the service in 1942 and trained at Camp Hood, Texas. In 1944 he was sent to Germany and fought in the Battle of the Bulge with the 559 Field Artillary. Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers-Milton, Jarl and sister Linda. Also sisters-in-law-Jean (Reed) Dove, Helen Dove, and Nancy (Sporalski) Dove and brothers-in-law-Norbert Nissen and Wesley Keranen. Edwin is survived by brothers-John (Marilyn) Dove of Waukesha, WI, Earl of Milwaukee, WI, Jackie (Deanna) Niemi of Painesdale, and sisters-Eileen Nissen of California and Carol Keranen of Houghton along with several nieces and nephews. Edwin was an avid hunter. His favorites were hunting deer and birds. Military rites will be held later this spring in the Lakeside Cemetery of Hancock.
